Portrait of Cherry Glover - On assignment for Atlanta Journal-Constitution

She didn't stop smiling the whole time I was with her.  Yet, her story rips your heart out of your chest.  She has a developmental disability that prevents her from living a normal life.  She has four children, but currently has custody of one, her 7-year-old daughter, Asia Glover.  Read her story at AJC's website.

Cherry Glover, who has a developmental disability, said All About Developmental Disabilities has been a big part of her life. “They really feel like a family to me, because I never had that,” said Glover, shown in her Atlanta home. “And they’ve really been there to help me just grow and learn, and I never fail … because they’ve been there for me. They have my back.” Branden Camp for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Glover and her four kids are one of more than 100 families in metro Atlanta that will be helped by All About Developmental Disabilities’ Adopt-a-Family program this year. Besides helping Glover with “life skills training” and tracking her progress, Walker assisted Glover in compiling her family’s wish list for the Adopt-a-Family program. Small Towns - Personal Project

We all see the small brown sign that reads "Historic Downtown" when we enter most small cities in America.  This week I began visiting these cities and meeting locals.  Some of these cities are thriving while many are becoming vacant.

Artist Skip McNutt poses for a portrait at his studio in historic downtown Adairsville, Ga.  McNutt is hoping to use his art to bring business to small towns in Northwest Georgia.  If you visit historic downtown Adairsville,  a mural that McNutt and a colleague painted depicting the great locomotive chase is displayed on the old train depot.

On Assignment for Boston Globe

With the presidential election drawing closer, more and more assignments are focused around presidential candidates and campaign rallies.

The Boston Globe asked me to go to Ellijay, Ga. to photograph Ted Cruz supporter Joe McCutchen.  I ended up spending the whole day following McCutchen around town.  McCutchen believes Cruz will win the Republican nomination through talk radio as well as small business owners coming together to promote Cruz.  After spending the day around town, we ended the day with a quick portrait session at his home.  Here are the photos from my assignment.
